Altitude Training

The Snow Farm lodge is developing as one of NZ's hidden treasures for our elite athletes! Located at just under 1600m the summer provides an amazing location for altitude training camps. We have a huge variety of training grounds available for your sport and team - huge flat areas, 55km of trails for running / MTB, an onsite gym & huge indoor training areas - the opportunities are endless.

We can help design / implement a training plan for your sport and have great contacts throughout the NZ academy of Sport.

Have a look in our photo gallery for an aerial photo showing the running trails.

Facilities for live - high - train - high regime

  • 60km of running and MTB trails. Trails system designed in  loops so you can do anything from 800m to 20km or a  combination of any distance between – running starts at  1600m and you can climb out to around 1800m / 5900ft
  • Mountain Biking follows the same trails as the running and  can also climb out to around 1800m / 5900ft
  • Gym – onsite in the lodge we have a weights and cardio gym,  this has a  range of activities from a good selection of free  weights, to bench & bar exercises to treadmill, rowing  machines or cycling.
  • Large Flat training grounds – Anywhere from 35-50m in  width to 300-500m in length. These are great for team runs and  doing activities as a big group. There are about 10 of these  facilities which are all located within 5 mins of the lodge. We  can also mark out rugby / soccer / hockey / athletics fields out to  give you the full size dimensions for performing team runs.
  • Indoor training facility – we also have an indoor facility that  can be used in the case of bad weather or a harder surface  being required. This is approximately 200m long and 50m wide.  It has full lighting inside and can be opened at both ends. Great  for doing intervals/sprint sessions or even group runs. This is  located 2mins from the lodge.
